Fairytail Fancy Dress Costume, Fancy Dress Costumes

Everybody loves a Fairytale fancy dress costume party.  The hardest part is deciding which fantastical Fairytale celebrity you are going to dress up as.  What fantabulous storybook character do you want to become?  Because it’s all made up nonsense of course.  Isn’t it?  As kids, the beautifully sweet stories we used to have read to us at bedtime - all just invented to impress our active little minds and to make everything in the world seem happy and jolly, perhaps when in our own lives… it isn’t.  Yet when we grow up into serious, closed-minded adults, we still enjoy the feeling of going to a party wearing a whimsical Fairytale fancy dress costume and pretending that everything is going to be all right.
 
But wearing a Fairytale fancy dress costume doesn’t mean we are stupid.  We know that going out on party night dressed in a fictional fairytale costume extracted from a popular children’s nursery rhyme won’t solve our problems.  Little Miss Muffet in real life, doesn’t always get to sit on a tuffet.  And I’m quite sure we will never be able to solve the world hunger dilemma just because Mary Had a Little Lamb.  Unless she’s willing to share that lamb… anyway that’s not the point.  The objective of dressing up in a Snow White fancy dress costume, or a Tinman from the Wizard of Oz costume is to forget who we are and to have some fun... albeit short-lived fun.  We know that this little slice of fairytale fancifulness won’t help pay the overdue mortgage… or get little Scotty through astronaut school. But if we have the chance to hide away in a completely inappropriate Fairytale fancy dress costume for five minutes, then where’s the harm in that?
 
Anybody can wear a Fairytale fancy dress costume – that’s the beauty of them. And just because it’s a Fairytale theme, doesn’t mean you have to wear a plain old fairy costume to the party.  No!  It means anything from the realm of the Fairytale - books, movies, nursery rhymes, crazy made up stories that grandad used to tell you when you were little… it all counts.  And you can mix it up and wear the costume how you want to wear it.  It was all made up rubbish to start with... who cares if you dress up in a Goldilocks costume with your naturally long red hair?  Who’s going to get upset if your Alice in Wonderland costume makes your bum look big?  And who says that Little Red Riding Hood has to be so bloody nice all the time?  It’s your Fairytale fancy dress costume… maybe it’s time to tell a different story!
